gratitude, Gratitude, GRATITUDE!!
Today I was thinking about gratitude. The ability to feel thankful is something I personally had as a child, lost as a teen, and regained as a college student. Many people use prayer as their primary way of expressing gratitude; others do so through verbalization of their thankfulness.
How often do we take the time to WRITE DOWN what we appreciate? Many of us have a daily practice of gratitude. I go over my list for what I’m grateful in my head first thing in the morning, often when I’m in the car, and at night when I pray before bed. But taking the time to write them out doesn’t happen often enough in my world.
I think there’s great value in committing our gratitude to the written word. First, I think it solidifies our experience of that gratitude; somehow things become more “real” when we write them down. Second, we then interact with the world from this more solidified place of gratitude, passing on that energy to others who, in turn, pass it on to others. We’re starting a movement here, people! Third, long after we’ve left this physical lifetime, our words remain for others to be inspired to reflect on their own blessings.
I want to wish you all the blessings your hearts and souls desire and the suggestion that you write them down and share them with others so they can go forth and do the same. Reclaiming the world for peace, one gratitude list at a time…
